Unfortunate today, I decided to spent 7 hours in the sun and, of course, I didn't have sunblock on. So I'm burnt, naturally sporting a bikini in the buff. Normally when I'm in the sun, I don't tan or burn, I just freckle.
Did you know?
- That lighter skin pigmentation prevents rickets (a disease that affects the developing skeletal system of children and young animals) in colder latitudes.
- That lighter skin pigmentation retains heat better than someone with darker skin.
- An advantage of lighter skin in high latitudes is that the body absorbs more sun which leads to increased production of vitamin D (necessary for calcium absorption and bone growth).
